October 19, 2011 - One of the joys of living in the
mountains and forests of Colorado is the abundance of wildlife that
can be found there. Deer, elk, bighorn sheep, lynx, coyotes,
hawks and eagles, geese, and many smaller animals
are a common sight and are a reminder that we are living in the countryside.
However, there are a few animals that share this
space that can be less friendly towards man. Among them
are mountain lions and badgers. Both of these animals
have been observed at Blue Mesa. As wildlife enjoys greater
protection, seeing one of these animals is becoming
more and more frequent. Ed Beard recently took these
pictures of a mountain lion that was passing by his cabin.
